Free Hosting

Would you consider using free hosting for your business website? Do you think free hosting would be sufficient for your craft business needs? For a long time now, I've also gone with paid hosting options because they are just so much more reliable.

With free hosting youre looking at ads that will be placed on your website.. It would look Spammy and it wouldnt be worth your time. Honestly you really dont need more than $5 a month shared hosting with a WordPress website, specially in this industry.

If you are committed and serious about your business and site, then I would not recommend using free hosting. There will be many advertises and constraints that will affect visitor experience. I would definitely invest into shared hosting at least (which is quite cheap around). If you just want to create and test out your site, then free hosting is a good option to sort out these features.

It depends. I think free web hosting is a good plan for the short term but a long-term solution would be paid. Paying removes the excessive advertising that's displayed, and you'll be the complete owner of the FTP/Cpanel/server.

Definitely, although there does seem to be a huge abundance of free hosting services that offer ad-free hosting which is quite nice for beginners. I would hate to use a hosting service that forced ads onto the site, even if it was free!

I'm not too fond of free web-hosting personally. Never too sure of the ulterior motives behind it being free: Is there extreme limits in a bid to upsell another plan, is my data secure, or will users get irritating ads.

There's quite good paid hosting out there for a couple bucks per month, which I've found to be quite reliable and significantly better than free.

Yes. The amount of excessive advertising that free hosts display could potentially put off potential customers and visitors from browsing your webpage. Think about first impressions, so that's why it's important to consider Paid Hosting if you're serious about the business.

Free hosting is okay for something you are just testing and not really looking to make permanent at that moment. I do suggest that if you are looking at starting a true business or something that should remain online 100%, then I would go for paid hosting as they have less of a chance going offline and they aren't going to fill your website full of ads.

Definitely. To be honest, even with projects that I'm still working on and know that they won't be released for a while, I still pay for some hosting because it's just so much more convenient. You don't have to worry about the hosting site closing/randomly deleting your site and losing all your work.

Whether or not free hosting is good depends on your traffic. If you have a lot, then you would have to put up with ads to get a decent site speed. However, if you don't, then some limited-feature hosting with no ads could work. Anyway, some ad-less free hosting is probably decent for sites with a decent amount of traffic. For instance, one company claims unlimited bandwidth etc., but it has no one-on-one support. Well, some people don't need personalized support.

When you are first starting out, I would opt for Free Hosting. While it's not the best, some can look professional. But I'd be 100% sure you can migrate over to a Paid Hosting with little ease.
Definitely do pay for the ad-less experience. I've been to pages where it took forever to load & even if I liked the product, I didn't go back.
Another issue is having customer service. Responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
Having those can make even a Free Hosting look nice.

Free hosting is only appropriate to test websites or gain experience in website management. it is useless for serious websites.
